Wednesday's Weekend Wishlist: Labor Day Weekend 2017!

Kachina Trail in early September
Well, after a hiatus last weekend for me to get out of town, it's Wednesday again.  The day best known for keeping your weekly calendar from being laterally symmetrical, and for making Meredith blush and giggle in 1st grade phonics when it was sounded out as Wed-Nes-Day and had a drawing of a bride and groom to emphasize the "wed" sound.

And because without further help, reading those tidbits would be literally the most interesting part of Wednesday, here's a roundup of things to do this weekend.  And by "weekend," I mean Thursday to Sunday…because we can't exclude Friday-eve or Sunday Funday from the mix!

Roundup of event listings.  If you have an event to advertise contact getthefunout@gmail.com

First of all--if you're heading out of town for the long weekend, travel safely; and if you're going to be on the I-17--don't drive like a dick.

Around the state:

10 Fun Events for Kids and Families - Including Coconino County Fair, Showdown in Tombstone, free museums in Mesa, flashlight tours in the Desert Botanical gardens, and more.

$5 movies at Harkins from Sept 1-4.

The Valley:

Arizona Wilderness Brewing 4th Anniversary party - featuring new tappings and more, every day starting Thursday.

Phoenix Rising plays Seattle Sounders 2 on Saturday.

Glow Yoga on August 31.

Group classes with REI Outdoor School (locations also in Tucson and Flagstaff).  Valley classes include kayaking, trail running, stand-up paddle-boarding, GPS instruction, and bike maintenance.

Sip and Shop Sunday at DeSoto Central Market, 11:00-3:00.  Cheap mimosas and cool pop-up market, also, indoors which is still nice.

AZ Central:  8 best events, concerts, and things to do in Phoenix this weekend - including Dave Chappelle, an anime festival, Idina Menzel, and a food festival!

Phoenix Magazine:  Top ten events for the week - including Cars and Coffee and Wickenburg Fiesta de Septiembre.

Phoenix New Times:  It's first Friday, here are 15 Art Shows to check out.

Phoenix New Times:  21 Best Things to do in Metro Phoenix - including ASU football opening weekend, a science tech festival, and more!

Tucson

Tucson.com: Ten Cool things to do in Tucson this weekend - Including a green chile roast, UofA football opening weekend, and Salsa, Taco, and Tequila Challenge!

Flagstaff

Weekly rooftop yoga at Hotel Monte Vista on Wednesday nights (so plan for next week).  $10/class, arrive no later than 5:45 PM.  Rooftop yoga is the best, and I cannot imagine a more beautiful view to have while doing yoga than the San Francisco peaks.

AZDailySun.com: Events Calendar - including Flagstaff First Friday!

Prescott

City of Prescott:  Events Calendar - Gardening for Newcomers and G Loves End of Summer Bash!
