About

Years of splitting wood pays off.
Hi and thanks for visiting GTFO.  I hope you have found the site and twitter feed (@gtfoaz) to be helpful in keeping you occupied and enjoying Arizona.

This project stems from the comment lamentation from newcomers that there's nothing to do in Phoenix.  That's not true, but they should be forgiven for their complaint because Phoenix is a "driving city" and events are spread out and hard to stumble upon.  My response has always been "there's plenty to do, you just have to know where to find it."  GetTheFunOut strives to be the place you can go to find these things.

Admittedly, much of the information provided is regurgitated in the way of retweets in my Twitter feed or linked to the New Times, AZCentral.com, and other resources.  Since this site is done in my spare time, my philosophy is to not reinvent the wheel or duplicate efforts - if someone else has detailed information or calendars, I'm going to point you to them rather than try not to plagiarize their posts while repeating the same information.

That said, when I have the time, I do strive to create original content from my own experiences.  Travel Diaries will be a first person narrative of what I get into.  "A Weekend in the City of..." will be written more like a traditional travel guide.  I also aim to provide 'experience reviews' of bars, restaurants, venues, sporting events, etc. that will aim to give you an idea of the overall experience you can expect in any given place...we all know that there's more to going out than just the 'product' you are receiving.

Writing and photography are great hobbies of mine, but because they're not paying the bills right now, they (and GTFO) have to come second and fit into my life as it happens.  Forgive any delays in posting articles, if you want current info make sure to follow or check the twitter feed as I can easily retweet happenings.

Thanks and stay tuned as GTFO grows and continues! If you have an event that I can publicize, tweet it to @gtfoaz or email me at getthefunout@gmail.com, same for questions or comments.
